The clown prince of crime is yukking it up, all right: The Oscar nominations were announced this morning, and Todd Phillips’ grimy Scorsese riff is in the lead with 11 nods, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
I am disappointed, but not totally surprised; after all, we did an episode of The Big Story just last month on the triumph of marketing over quality, and this is the best illustration I could have asked for.
Anyway, I wrote about the nominations over at the NOW website. Disagree with me if you must. But I’ll bet that you don’t.
I’ve seen almost none of the nominated movies/performances/etc. so far this year, although many are on my to-watch list when they fit into my entertainment budget of $0. However, I have seen Kitbull. I will be rooting for Kitbull on the night. Go Kitbull!!! Give everyone the feels!!!
