It’s proper January now, as studio dumps jockey for space with awards-season expansions. On the upside, the TFCA gala happened last night, and The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open won the $100,000 Rogers Best Canadian Film prize … which is a very nice thing that I was happy to be a part of.
Botero: Canadian doc celebrates the Colombian artist.
Cunningham: That’s a lord of the dance! [Kathleen]
Just Mercy: Michael B. Jordan galvanizes pat drama. [Rad]
Like a Boss: Oughta be better, given the cast. [Rad]
Luba: Small, thoughtful drama about domestic darkness.
Underwater: The Abyss plus The Descent, minus fun.
Oh, and I took a look at Treadstone, the USA Network Bourne spinoff that drops globally on Amazon today, and Glenn tackled HBO’s The Outsider. You needn’t bother with either one.
