Surprising no one, “Puss in Boots” topped the domestic box-office this weekend with a respectable $34 million, knocking “Paranormal Activity 3” down to second place with $18.5 million. But the real news was overseas, where “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn” topped the international box-office in its debut weekend with $55.8 million, leaving “Puss” in the dust with just $17 million.
“Tintin” won’t open in North America until December 21st, but it just became the Christmas movie to beat. Interesting, huh?
It’s worth noting that Puss in Boots only opened in a couple of international markets. It’s being rolled out to the rest of the world in November and December.
