In this week’s MSN DVD column, I try to sound all knowledgeable about sports movies — or at least one of them, Michael Dowse’s “Goon”, which powers past the usual hockey cliches thanks to solid performances from Seann William Scott, Liev Schreiber and Alison Pill and a very smart script by Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg.

Given that Kevin Smith’s trying to make a movie about a very similar subject, you should probably see this one before it gets all cross-contaminated.  Also, it’s pretty funny.
