Hey, “Paranormal Activity 2” just opened and “Hereafter” is going wide this weekend; what else was there to write about? Epic five-and-a-half-hour biographies of media-savvy terrorists? Because there’s maybe four of those.
Curiously, neither ‘From Beyond’ or ‘The Beyond’ made the cut. Darn you! You led me on!
Well, “From Beyond” isn’t really about ghosts, exactly, and as for “The Beyond” … well, let’s just say you open that door, a lot of stuff’s going to come screaming through it.
Nice to see the flawed but undeniably out-there ‘Exorcist III’ get some props. Any opinion on ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply’? Not a horror by any means, but the spirits do wander and watch Fitzcarraldo…
I cut two films from my initial list — “Truly Madly Deeply” and “The Others”. The first one made me cry, and the second just felt played out. But yeah, rethinking it now I probably should have kept Minghella’s film … and made room for “The Innocents”, as well. Dangit.
