The Oscar nominations are out! And after spending most of yesterday on radio and TV talking about ’em, I wrote some thoughts down for NOW. And then I wrote some more thoughts down for this week’s Superhero Nonsense! column, specifically about what the Best Picture nod for Black Panther really means.

Oh, and also here’s this week’s Screening Spotlight, which features Emily Gagne and Danita Steinberg’s We Really Like Her! screening of A League of Their Own tomorrow night (Thursday) at the Revue. (You may remember Emily and Danita from their episode of Someone Else’s Movie. They’re cool.)

Also also: I reviewed Black Earth Rising, a complex and compelling miniseries built around a knockout performance from Chewing Gum‘s Michaela Coel. It aired on the BBC last fall, but it drops on Netflix this Friday. Check it out, it’s good.
