So Kate and I have this little Halloween ritual: Every year, once the sidewalk traffic quiets down, we take all the leftover candy to the basement and hide out with a horror movie.
Haven’t decided on this year’s feature yet, though I’m thinking this might be the perfect time to bust out that UK Blu-ray of “The Innocents”. We are, as they say, spoiled for choice. But so is everyone, now, with the advent of streaming services and On Demand cable and everything else. So it’d actually be possible to gorge on horror movies for the entirety of All Hallow Even … and wouldn’t you know it, here comes Edgar Wright to program 24 straight hours of the stuff over at the AV Club!
So, basically, you should read that. And make sure you go through the comments, too, where you’ll find several alternate programs and a whole mess of arguing about which movies are scarier/better/more thrillinger. At the very least, it’ll make you want to take another look at “The Manitou” … which might be the most chilling notion of all.
