Labor Day weekend is, traditionally, the slowest weekend of the year for movies, and the frame into which distributors dump the movies in which they have the least amount of faith. It’s also the last weekend before TIFF goes into high gear, so I’ve learned to savor the quiet.

Just two movies opening — “Apollo 18” and “Shark Night”. My review of the latter should be up later today, and I’ll link to it then. I’m actually kinda curious about “Apollo 18”, since it sounds exactly like the sort of off-center genre exercise Bob Weinstein was never very good at marketing, but I simply don’t have the time to see it.

I am focused on the calm.
