My latest MSN Movies gallery does the only thing it can do this week, using the release of “Shutter Island” to explore some other famous cinematic snake pits. And yes, “The Snake Pit” is first on the list.

Surprised “Frances” didn’t make the cut…creepier use of an ice pick than “Basic Instinct”.
I thought about it, but ultimately I had to rule out movies that wher the bulk of the running time was set outside the asylum … otherwise the list would have become unmanageable.
Same goes for “Suddenly, Last Summer” …
