I See You, Tom

On this week’s episode of Someone Else’s Movie, director Mark Raso — who follows his solid debut feature Copenhagen with the very good drama Kodachrome, which premieres on Netflix this Friday — gives the show another chance to dive into the work of the late, great Anthony Minghella.

Mark picked The Talented Mr. Ripley, Minghella’s 1999 adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s seductive chiller, previously filmed as Purple Noon. It was Minghella’s follow-up to the triumph of The English Patient, and it’s a terrific little character study that’s only finally starting to get its due. I’m happy to nudge it along.
