Here I Go Again

This week on Someone Else’s Movie, I welcome April Mullen — whose new thriller Wander stars Aaron Eckhart and Tommy Lee Jones, the best and worst Two-Faces in cinema history — to talk about Tom Tykwer’s frenetic 1998 thriller Run Lola Run, the movie that gave time-loop narratives a shot of punky videogame energy and made Franka Potente an international star.

What can I say? It’s fun, and you should listen! Subscribe on Apple PodcastsGoogle Play and Stitcher and get the episode immediately, or just download it directly from the web. I made it for you.

And then check out the latest NOW What podcasts, because I made those too! Last Friday, Richard Trapunski told me about the importance of supporting local businesses during the pandemic, and yesterday Charlie Smith of the Georgia Straight discussed all the fun ways in which COVID is ruining our sleep. (You’ve noticed that too, right? I sure have.)

Wanna read stuff after? There’s last week’s What to Watch package — I really should post those on Fridays, shouldn’t I — and some recommendations for the Whistler Film Festival, which is streaming to all of Canada this month. (Kelly McCormack’s Sugar Daddy is essential viewing.) And I wrote longer reviews of Ammonite, Mank and the new season of Big Mouth, because you deserve them.

Oh, and I also wrote a thing about why Crave won’t be streaming Warner’s 2021 theatrical releases even though they’ll be available in the US on HBO Max. Bummer, huh.

  1. Something about Run Lola Run not mentioned…the soundtrack sets an excellent pace for exercising on a treadmill or elliptical and works thematically as you run.
