The most excellent international documentary festival we call Hot Docs launches tonight, and most of my coverage can now be found online at NOW’s special dedicated section, which is awfully convenient.
The reviews are a little tricky to navigate — they aren’t organized by reviewer — but if you’re looking for my favorite titles, you can’t go wrong with the rockin’ rockumentary “Anvil! The Story of Anvil“, the decidedly non-rockin’ but still quite amazing “Song Sung Blue“, the thrilling, terrifying BASE-jumping study “20 Seconds of Joy” and/or the Harlan Ellison profile “Dreams with Sharp Teeth“.
And I’ve only seen a sliver of this year’s titles; you really should wander down to the festival and try your luck. It’s almost always worth it.
