My guest is Larry Weinstein, a veteran documentarian and concert-film specialist whose latest doc, Propaganda: The Art of Selling Lies, opens this weekend at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema.

Surprisingly for a filmmaker who specializes in capturing reality, Larry picked Amarcord, Federico Fellini’s decidedly surreal memor of adolescence and young manhood under the shadow of creeping Fascism.

An intriguing choice, no? And there’s a lot more to the conversation, which spun out in some surprising directions and even managed to involve Jaws because of course it did.
