Look, I’m as surprised by this week’s episode of Someone Else’s Movie as you are. But the rule is that the guest gets to pick the movie, and Kire Paputts — whose solid second feature The Last Porno Show makes its world premiere at TIFF tonight — wanted to talk about Sicilian Vampire, so that’s what we talked about.
You know, Sicilian Vampire. Un film de Frank D’Angelo, the writer-director-producer-singer-star whose approach to narrative cinema is … well, let’s call it intuitive. Or naive, we could call it that too. But whatever it is, Kire genuinely admires it, and D’Angelo’s whole deal, so that’s where we started. And I’m pretty happy where we ended up.
Join us, won’t you? Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Google Play and Stitcher to get the episode right away, or download it directly from the web if that’s what you prefer. Just have fun with it … and say a prayer for me, as I’ll be seeing my 50th TIFF film today. And my 51st, 52nd and 53rd, because apparently I’m a masochist. You’re keeping up with the capsules, right? I mean, I hope someone is.
