Staunch Characters

I love it when guests get performative on Someone Else’s Movie. There was the the time Natalie Merchant busted out her George Sanders impression while discussing All About Eve, or when Tatiana Maslany, Tom Cullen and I did duelling Daniel Plainviews on the There Will Be Blood episode.

This week, the indomitable Mouthpiece duo of Amy Nostbakken and Norah Sadava can’t help affecting their best mid-Atlantic accents in tribute to Big Edie and Little Edie, the subjects and stars of Grey Gardens — an awfully interesting film choice on a number of levels, all of which are explored over the course of the hour. (Fun fact: Mouthpiece director Patricia Rozema co-wrote the script for the 2009 HBO movie about the Beales, and scored an Emmy nomination for it!)

It was a great conversation, and now you can share the love. Subscribe on Apple PodcastsGoogle Play and Stitcher and get it right away, or download the episode directly from the web. And see Mouthpiece, which is currently playing in Toronto and Los Angeles. It’s really something.
