This week on Someone Else’s Movie, I’m joined by Jovanka Vuckovic — a former visual-effects artist and Rue Morgue editor who made the jump to directing with a pretty effective segment of the XX anthology, and whose first feature Riot Girls arrives on VOD today straight from its Canadian theatrical run.
And her choice of film? Kathryn Bigelow’s masterful Near Dark, the ultra-stylish horror-Western that remains one of the best genre films of the ’80s, even though hardly anyone seems to remember it nowadays.
But we do. And we are here to celebrate it, and you’re invited to ride along. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Google Play and Stitcher to get the episode instantly, or stream it on Spotify, or grab the MP3 directly from the web. Just be sure to listen to it during the day.
