Slay Ride

He sees you when you’re sleeping.

The Santa is coming from inside the house.

On this week’s shiny new episode of Someone Else’s Movie I’m joined by writer-director Justin McConnell — whose new movie Lifechanger opens in Toronto, Ottawa and Calgary on Friday — to talk about Lewis Jackson’s 1980 curio Christmas Evil (aka You Better Watch Out), in which an especially sad-eyed Brandon Maggart plays a disturbed toy-factory worker whose grip on the whole “naughty or nice” thing is tenuous at best.

It’s a horror movie that isn’t really a horror movie — or at any rate, it was marketed as one specific sort of horror movie, while being a different one entirely — and it kicks off a wide-ranging conversation about seasonal horror, outsider art and the way the weirder stuff always sticks around.

Join us! Subscribe on Apple PodcastsGoogle Play and Stitcher and you’ll get the episode right away, or stream it on Spotify. Or you can download the episode directly from the web. I would suggest you listen with a plate of milk and cookies, but that’s probably just asking for trouble.
