Two new TV series launch this week, each one offering its own specific set of skills.

First, there’s the Broad City-inflected foolishness of Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens, which premiered last night and finds the Farewell star knocking around Flushing in pursuit of a career and features fun supporting players like BD Wong, Ming-Na, Simu Liu and Josie Chung. It’s charming!

And tonight there’s Star Trek: Picard, which marks the long-awaited return of Patrick Stewart to the 24th century. It’s got some issues, but Stewart is strong enough to hold it all together. And you know you were going to watch it anyway.
