The first film of 2015 is The Woman in Black: Angel of Death, a competent if unnecessary follow-up to that movie where Daniel Radcliffe walked around a haunted house in a frock coat .
Like its predecessor, it’s a movie driven by grief and guilt, with the characters’ inner demons given the same standing as the spectre that keeps popping out at them … but repetition does not become this tale, with director Tom Harper content to rehash the same beats James Watkins laid down the first time around while new leads Phoebe Fox, Jeremy Irvine and Helen McCrory do their best to seem surprised by each entirely predictable jump scare.
Anyway, that’s that. Enjoy your weekend!
