TIFF is over! Well, there are a few hours of screenings left but I myself am done, turning my attention to next week’s copy.
It was a good ‘un; I logged either 60 or 61 features and a few dozen shorts, and if my top pick, Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk, didn’t take the People’s Choice award — coming in second to the juggernaut that was Green Book — I can be philosophical. People saw it and loved it, and besides that prizes are stupid.
(Except for Roads in February winning Best Canadian First Feature, that’s fantastic.)
Anyway, I wrote a whole thing about it at the NOW site. Check it out, and then go watch Nicole Holofcener’s new movie on Netflix.
