Embargoed

Oh, it's comingOkay, so, yes, I saw “Cloverfield” last night. And despite all the questions and the expectations, I’m obliged to keep my opinion to myself until the film opens tomorrow.

So try this for a compromise: I won’t say a bad word against it.

Ever.

  1. Given the high level of secrecy associated with the picture, is it better seen without former knowledge regarding monster/plot/etc.? Do you recommend that I avoid reading reviews before seeing it?

  2. I just don’t know, Norm. You burned me with The Host. I don’t know if I can trust your judgement when it comes to monster movies. 🙂

  3. @ Oded: I’d avoid reading any reviews beforehand, simply because one never knows what spoilers might lurk within. Me, I try not to discuss any plot points beyond the ones in the first reel, simply because it seems unfair to do so. But even I might give away something you don’t want to know.

I mean, it’s not like there are any huge howling spoilers to be had in the film, other than what happens when, but you never can tell what other writers will think is important.

@ Josh: “The Host” rules, dude. Maybe you need to see it again after a hearty dish of fried squid?

  4. After hearing about all the shaky-cam work I’ve realized I’ll have to wait for the DVD. I didn’t last more than 15 minutes into 24 Hour Party People and had to leave The Blair Witch Project five or six times. Hard to pay any real attention to the movie when you can’t stop thinking about how nauseous & dizzy you are!
