Brave New Worlds

Just a couple of things as we ease into the weekend — don’t want to strain myself.

First, here’s my latest MSN Movies gallery, which uses the release of “John Carter” to see how other beloved fantasy and SF properties have fared in the translation to the big screen. (Hint: They don’t always do well.)

And then I take a quick look at TIFF Cinematheque’s Studio Ghibli retrospective, which gets underway this morning with a screening of Hayao Miyazaki’s “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” — though if you’d rather catch it in the original Japanese, that’s screening next Saturday night.

It’s good to have options.
