This week’s Someone Else’s Movie has been a few months in the planning. I was originally supposed to sit down with Neville Pierce back in March, when I was last in London — but a wretched cold blew out my voice, and I had to cancel at the last minute.
Fortunately, I was back in the UK this month and in much better shape, so it all went smoothly this time. (You’d never guess I’d just got off a transatlantic flight, would you?)
Of course, it’s easy for a conversation to pop when it’s about David Fincher’s Seven, which was a big deal back in 1995 but now looks like one of the defining thrillers of its era. Everything just works, with Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt’s terrific low-key performances contrasting with Fincher’s suffocating mise-en-scene and the downward spiral of Andrew Kevin Walker’s screenplay. And yeah, Kevin Spacey, but we deal with that.
Anyway, you know what to do. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher, listen on Spotify or download it directly from the web. And then go watch Nev’s short films. They’re really good.
