Another Wobbly Domino

It's all on you, babyIn the aftermath of Warner’s decision to abandon HD DVD, the Los Angeles Times is reporting (registration required) that Paramount is indeed planning to resume releasing titles on the rival Blu-ray format.

Apparently, Warner’s announcement …

… triggered an “out” clause in Paramount Pictures’ contract with the HD DVD camp. An industry source said there was a significant possibility that Paramount would exercise that clause. It plans to decide within a month.

Which fits nicely with my theory that Paramount moved “Into the Wild” and “Things We Lost in the Fire” from February 12th to March 4th in order to buy enough time to press BD editions as well as standard and HD DVD versions.

But they’d still have to announce them, and solicit them to retailers … so that decision may be coming down sooner than we think.
