Just a couple of things on the slate for today: First, I’ve written a little thing for the NOW Daily about tonight’s Doc Soup presentation, Joe Berlinger’s “Under African Skies”, which looks at the legacy of Paul Simon’s “Graceland” album a quarter-century after its contentious release.
And as you may have heard, James Cameron is bringing “Titanic” back to the megaplexes, celebrating the centenary of the disaster (and the film’s 15th anniversary) with a new 3D edition.
The post-conversion 3D isn’t bad at all, but it’s really just an excuse to put the movie back on the big screen — where it looks pretty damn great. My review is online here, but basically, I still think it’s Cameron’s masterpiece. Your mileage may vary, of course.
Is that a Starship Troopers commentary reference in your caption?
You beat me to the punch, Josh. I will never, ever tire of that portion of the Starship Troopers commentary.
