Baby Driver and Okja both open today, and they are two of the year’s best movies and you should see them, like, right away. Unless you’re in Toronto, in which case you should come down to Harbourfront and join me as I kick off the 2017 edition of Free Flicks!
In honor of Canada’s sesquicentennial, we’re screening The Sun at Midnight, Kirsten Carthew’s moving drama about a young woman from Montreal who’s uprooted from the city and brought to the Arctic Circle, where she winds up befriending an older fur trapper.
I’ve been a fan of this film since I caught it at last fall’s ImagineNative festival, and I’m really glad to be able to get it in front of an audience tonight. Come on down, if you’re in town! And if you’re not, see Baby Driver in a theater. It’s so good.
