This week on Someone Else’s Movie, I finally get local filmmaker Sophy Romvari — whose previous films include the thoughtful Nine Behind and the moving Let Your Heart Be Light — on the show.

The timing was good, because Sophy’s new short Pumpkin Movie is screening at Hot Docs this week (and it’s very good; I’ll link to my NOW review as soon as it goes live), and also because she wanted to talk about Kirsten Johnson’s masterful 2016 essay film Cameraperson, which I absolutely loved when I caught it at Hot Docs 2016, and which employs a style of documentary filmmaking that lines up very nicely with Sophy’s own work.
