It’s time for this month’s NOW Free Flick Monday at The Royal, and tonight I’m happy to present one of the all-time delights of buddy cinema, Martin Brest’s Midnight Run.
Seriously, what is there to say about it that hasn’t already been said — or that Enrico Colantoni didn’t say on his episode of Someone Else’s Movie a while back? (Did you miss it? It’s right here.) It’s a joy from start to finish, and 30 years later the only thing that feels a little dated are the 3.5″ floppies that play a key role in the climax. Otherwise, it’s perfect.
Come down to the theater and join me! Doors at 6:30 pm, movie at 7:30 pm, first hundred guests get free popcorn and everybody gets a free movie. Full details right here, but basically it’s what I just said. See you there!
