The Never-Ending Story

Hang on, girl, I think I see a sulking Canadian off in the distanceIf you’re still keeping up with this, here’s my Cannes blog post for Day Nine, in which I give “Adoration” precisely as much respect as it deserves, and spend much more time discussing a far better film, Kelly Reichardt’s “Wendy and Lucy”.

Oh, and there’s some other stuff in there, too.

  1. For what it’s worth, Norm, OLD JOY was actually Reichardt’s *second* feature, her first being 1995’s RIVER OF GRASS, starring the great Larry Fessenden.

  2. You don’t think Passchendaele has the opening night gala slot sewn up for TIFF?

  3. Oh, god, I hope not. That trailer makes me wince every time I see it.

Oh, and Bill — you’re absolutely right, I always credit that to Fessenden for some reason. (Probably because I didn’t know who Reichardt was when I saw it.) Larry’s in the new one, too, totally rocking the crazy-guy-in-the-woods look.
