Presiding Over Extinction

This week on the NOW website, I wrote a thingĀ  about the connections between the arrival of the Criterion Channel and the closing of Toronto’s last Queen Video, and I also contributed a few choices to our preview of this year’s Images Festival. (Images is also the subject of this week’s Screening Spotlight, featuring artistic director Steffanie Ling.)

And, sadly, I also had to review Terry Gilliam’sĀ The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, the movie he’s been trying to make for a quarter of a century. Turns out he should have stopped after the first attempt fell apart.

But! Here is something that is not sad! I’ll be down at TIFF tonight for a special-event screening of Laika Studios’ delightful new comedy Missing Link, and chatting with writer-director Chis Butler afterward! Tickets are still available! You should come! Mr. Link would be so disappointed if you missed him.

So, yeah. That’s nice.
