Of Men and Muppets

Great googly-moogly! Look at all these openings! Time for a round of Six-Word Reviewing …

“The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye”: When two become one, through surgery. [Susan]

“Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey”: Kevin Clash’s gifted red right hand. [Glenn]

Being Flynn“: Hey, dad’s homeless. And an asshole.

“Black Butterfly”: South African romance, via the Netherlands.

“Casa di Mi Padre”: Will Ferrell en Espanol? Muy bien! [Rad]

Corman’s World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel“: ┬áThe living legend is profiled politely.

Jeff, Who Lives at Home“: Indie guys lose to the studio.

“Jiro Dreams of Sushi”: Documentary as koan; now I’m hungry. [Glenn]

“King of Devil’s Island”: Grim, frigid Norwegian youth-prison picture. [Rad]

Off World“: Muddled project; barely even a movie.

“Payback”: Baichwal makes an example of Atwood. [Susan]

“21 Jump Street”: I … kinda want to see this. [Rad]

Done! And now I’m off to see a man about a cabin. But I’ve said too much already.

  1. I’m not suggesting anything illegal, mind you, but you wouldn’t want to hold someone prisoner until he agrees to do his Wonder Woman movie, would you? (I care nothing for disputes with studios, etc. I just want my superheroine movie! And I think he would do a great job with it!)
