“Puss in Boots” continued to claw his way through the megaplex, topping the box-office chart for a second week with $33 million — and condemning Brett Ratner’s “Tower Heist” to a second-place debut with just $25.1 million.
(Fun fact: “Tower Heist” co-star Eddie Murphy plays Donkey in the “Shrek” films, which is the franchise from which the character of Puss-in-Boots is derived! I wonder how many journalists will make a comparison that uses this connection.)
Also not reaching the top: “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas”, which placed a distant third with just $13 million. I detect the hand of Evil Neil Patrick Harris in this. Or at least I hope that’s his hand.
