Hosers In Heaven

This week’s episode of Someone Else’s Movie is number 212, and I’d hoped to have a New York movie on the show because I am a huge nerd.

Instead, filmmaker Jeremy Larter threw me a proper curve ball, selecting Don Shebib’s Goin’ Down the Road — which, depending on your age and where you spent your teen years, is either a seminal work of English Canadian cinema or an obscure ’70s indie you only know because of an SCTV sketch. But however you may perceive it, it features really strong work from Douglas McGrath and Paul Bradley, and a verite shooting style that still feels immediate and raw. I was really glad for the chance to talk it through, even if it inevitably brings up Shebib’s wretched 2011 sequel.

You know how to get it: Subscribe on Apple PodcastsGoogle Play and Stitcher to listen right away, or stream the show on Spotify or download the episode directly from the web. Cheers, eh.
