This week’s episode of Someone Else’s Movie is a looser one, drifting in and out of focus as my guest and I wander through about five or six decades of movie music, as well as Frank and Eleanor Perry’s The Swimmer.
That’s because my guest is Ensign Broderick — a gifted singer-songwriter whose song “Accidence” inspired a rather remarkable short film by Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson and Galen Johnson — and the conversation just expanded well beyond the limitations of the Perrys’ despairing 1968 adaptation of John Cheever’s haunting tale of suburban disaffection.
Trust me, it’s worth a listen. Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Google Play and Stitcher and you’ll get it right away, or stream it on Spotify or download the episode directly from the web. It’ll be waiting for you, just like those pools.
