I promised you a goddamn TIFF post, you’re getting a goddamn TIFF post — in which I interview Sarah Polley about her tricky new feature “Take This Waltz”, which is wrapping up its Gala premiere screening as I type these very words.

Now, our conversation took place before the recent revelations about her remarriage and pregnancy, so the movie’s subtext will stubbornly remain subtext. But that also means we were able to talk about the movie and her choices for making it without a lot of creepy Freudian second guessing.
